Overijssel 1613 ducat Fr-268
This specimen was lot 252 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"OVERIJSSEL Provincie 1581 - 1795. Dukaat, 1613, Gold Type Ia. Staande ridder met Spaanse helm, zwaard en vier pijlen in bundel tussen jaartal. Tekst tussen de voeten en met binnencirkel. Kz. vierkant met MO: ORDI / PROVIN / FOEDER / BELG. AD / LEG. IMP. Gladde rand. Enigszins onregelmatig Plaatje. Zeer fraai +. (province of Overijssel, 1581-1795, gold ducat of 1613, type Ia. Obverse: standing knight with Spanish helmet, sword, and four arrows in a bundle dividing the date, with inner circle and lettering between the feet; reverse: tablet with inscription; plain edge. Slightly irregular planchet, choice very fine.)"
Ducats were struck in all of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Overijssel for 1603-16, 1630-40, 1646, 1660-66.
