This specimen was lot 3154 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 1,300 (about US$1,713 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Taler 1656. St. Veit. Fast vorzüglich-vorzüglich. (Germany, county of Ortenburg, thaler of 1656, St. Veit mint, extremely fine.)"
Altho count Christopher Widmann is shown in a bishop's dress, Ortenburg was not an ecclesiastical state but a district of Carinthia permitted by the emperor to strike coins. Gold five and ten ducats exist struck from these dies.
Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
