Steve Album Auction 52, lot 1310

This specimen was lot 1310 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "OMAN: Qaboos bin Said, 1970-2020, AR rial, ND (2011), Royal Opera House of Muscat-Building variety, large 60mm type, scarce grade, a spectacular reflective proof state example! PCGS graded Proof 68 DCAM, ex Dr. Wolfgang Schuster Collection. The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is Oman's premier venue for musical arts and culture. The opera house is located in the Shati Al-Qurm district of Muscat on Sultan Qaboos Street. Built on the royal orders of Sultan Qaboos of Oman, the Royal Opera House reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture." Numista notes three different formats for this NCLT, all catalogued as KM 168: large silver (shown here), small silver and gold. All were struck in Karlsfeld, Germany.

Recorded mintage: 1,000 large plus 5,500 small plus 450 in gold.

Specification: large: 75 g, 0.999 fine silver, 60 mm diameter. small: 28.28 g, 0.999 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter. KM 168a: 28.28 g, 0.917 fine gold, 38.61 mm diameter.
