Sincona sale 26, lot 2771

This specimen was lot 2771 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$247 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Nurnberg, Taler 1767. Mit Laubrand. Fast vorzüglich (Germany, city of Nurnberg, thaler of 1767, with leafy border. Choice extremely fine.)"

This type is one of two thalers (including Dav-2497) issued in Nuremberg in 1767, both scarce. This particular type was also issued 1768 and 1776.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 27.94 g.
