This specimen was lot 3213 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,671 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Nurnberg, City, Goldgulden 1521. St. Laurentius. Vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, goldgulden of 1521, St. Laurence on the obverse. Extremely fine.)"
This type commenced production about 1429 and was struck undated for several decades. Those produced 1506-47 have dates. The long production run makes this type the most common Nurnberger gold coin prior to the 1640's.

Specification: 3.25 g, 0.986 fine gold; this specimen is 3.22 g.
