This specimen was lot 32226 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "NORWAY. 2/3 Speciedaler, 1796. Kongsberg Mint. Christian VII. NGC AU-58. Exceptionally elusive quality for the issue, this example presents nearly full detail with attractive tone over the surfaces that darkens at the legends. Free from problems, and on account of that, among the very finest seen." This type was struck 1795-96. The Danes were forced to surrender Norway to Sweden in 1814.
