This specimen was lot 3428 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 25 € (about US$32 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Niue. 1989. 50 dólares. Juegos Olímpicos - Barcelona '92. AG. Proof." The coinage of Niue is comprised solely of NCLT's; the locals use New Zealand currency for daily transactions. Wikipedia comments, "As part of the Realm of New Zealand, New Zealand conducts most diplomatic relations on behalf of Niue. Niueans are citizens of New Zealand and Charles III is Niue's head of state in his capacity as King of New Zealand. Between 90% and 95% of Niuean people live in New Zealand...."
