This specimen was lot 1590 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $470. The catalog description[1] noted, "NICARAGUA. Centavo, 1878. NGC PROOF-64. From the Luis H. Flores Collection." This type was the only issue of this denomination during the nineteenth century. It is not listed as scarce but the proofs are rare.
Recorded mintage: 500,000 plus proofs.
Specification: copper-nickel.
