This specimen was lot 45517 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "NICARAGUA. Silver Proclamation Medal (Real), 1808. Ferdinand VII. PCGS VF-30 Gold Shield. A Real-denominated Medal, with a bust of what appears to be the previous king, Charles IV. A wholesome Medal with honest, even wear and gray to dark gray toning." Nicaragua, lacking a mint, did not produce coinage during the colonial period. What little bullion the region yielded was either smuggled out or sent to Guatemala City for coining, which is where this proclamation medal was likely made.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.896 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Cayón-15208, KM-M1; Grove-F83.
