This specimen was lot 42164 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Newfoundland. Cent, 1936. PCGS MS-65 RD. Last year for the portrait and type, and with the coveted RED designation. Quite solid for the grade and housed in an older PCGS green tag slab." Six dates exist of this type struck 1913-36. It is the last large cent struck in North America, Canada having dropped large cents in 1920 and the United States in 1857. The 1936 is the most common date tho not the highest mintage.
