This specimen was part of lot 1583 in Ponterio sale 173 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,939. The catalog description[1] noted, "NEW GUINEA. 1/2 & 1 Cent, 1929. KM-1 & 2. 2 pieces in lot. One year type. Issued mintage of only 400 pieces. Light hairlines somewhat subdued by light toning. Both semi-prooflike. UNCIRCULATED." The Melbourne mint struck this issue but the SCWC notes, "Entire mintage returned to the Melbourne mint which later sold 400 pcs. in sets with KM#1. The balance of mintage was destroyed."
