This specimen was lot 761 in Aureo sale 261 (Barcelona, July 2014), where it sold for €450 (about US$722 with buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1570. Alemania. Neuss. 1 taler. A nombre de Maximiliano II. Rara. MBC. (Germany, city of Neuss, silver thaler of 1570, struck in the name of Maximilian II. Rare, very fine.)"
Neuss is today an insignificant town in the Ruhr valley of Germany. It was formerly part of the Archbishopric of Cologne who granted the town the mint right. This type is listed for 1568-72.
