This specimen was lot 42507 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. 1/10 Gulden, 1940. Utrecht Mint. Wilhelmina I. PCGS PROOF-65 Cameo. Emanating from the final year of production in Utrecht before the events of World War II would cause production to shift to the United States, this issue is EXTREMELY RARE as a proof, with the present example tied with just one other for the top spot in the PCGS census." This type was struck 1937-40 at Utrecht and 1941-45 in the United States, the Netherlands being under German occupation. In 1949, the Dutch gave up their attempt to reconquer their colony and Indonesia obtained its independence.
