This specimen was lot 342 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLANDS-INDISCH GOUVERNEMENT 1816-1949 - 1/4 Gulden 1907, Silver, WILHELMINA 1890-1948 TYPE Id Smallere kroon en breder wapen, iets groter mmt. hellebaard. (Dutch East Indies, 1816-1949, , Wilhelmina, 1890-1948, silver quarter gulden of 1907, TYPE Id. Variety with narrower crown and broader coat of arms, slightly larger halberd. Obverse: Crowned national arms divide the value, below that the date; reverse: value in Malay and Javanese. Some small spots, full original toning. About uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1903-09. The Dutch hold on the East Indies in the early nineteenth century was weak and the British captured Batavia more than once during the Napoleonic Wars. Dutch control was restored at the Congress of Vienna. In the 1900's, the Dutch had conquered the profitable parts and the empire was steadily expanded to include all of what is now Indonesia by World War One. However, their establishment of schools for the natives led to the rise of an educated elite eager for independence.

Recorded mintage: 4,400,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 3.18 g, 0.720 fine silver, 15 mm diameter, this specimen 3.18 g.
