This specimen was lot 34113 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,740. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands East Indies: Dutch Colony. Willem III Cent 1855-(u) PR64 Brown NGC, Utrecht mint. A flashy survivor of a notoriously difficult issue to find without environmental qualifiers, seen here fully struck-up with silhouettes of original mint red throughout." This type was struck in large quantities 1855-60 and accompanied a half cent and 2½ cent. A very similar coin (KM 307.2) was struck for queen Wilhelmina 1896-1912.

Recorded mintage: 100,000 plus proofs, a scarce date.

Specification: 4.80 g, copper, 23 mm diameter.
