Netherlands East Indies 1746 duit KM-70
This specimen was lot 20422 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES. Holland. Silver Presentation Duit, 1746 VOC. Dordrecht Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-61 Gold Shield. Special presentation strike produced by the mintmaster. A sharply struck example of this off-metal issue with soft reflectivity appearing over the untoned surfaces." This type was struck in copper 1726, 1730-37, 1742-57, 1764-72, 1776-93 and is cheap. It was also struck 1735-36, 1746-63 in silver and 1726, 1732, 1746-49, 1755-63 in gold. This example does not appear to have made it to the East Indies. Other provincial duits struck for the East Indies include KM 131, 132, 134, 136 (Westfriesland), KM 150, 159 (Zeeland), KM 111 (Utrecht) and KM 50 (Gelderland).
