Netherlands Antilles 1980 10 gulden
This specimen was lot 72284 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS ANTILLES. 10 Gulden, 1980. Utrecht Mint. Beatrix. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo. A tremendous specimen, with stunning cameo contrast, this piece presents very well and is sure to catch the eye of a specialist." The Netherlands Antilles are an administrative unit comprising the Dutch islands in the Caribbean, principally Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire, lying off the shore of Venezuela. This NCLT was probably issued to mark the coronation of queen Beatrix. A concurrent 300 gulden marks the abdication of her mother, queen Juliana.
