Sincona sale 69, lot 976

This specimen was lot 976 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$212 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Kingdom of the Netherlands. Beatrix, 1980-2013. Dukat 1986, Utrecht. 95'091 Exemplare geprägt. Polierte Platte. (kingdom of the Netherlands, Beatrix, 1980-2013, ducat of 1986, UTrecht mint. 95'091 pieces struck, Choice Proof.)"

The Netherlands was the last country to struck ducats on a regular basis. This type, a refreshed version of a type struck basically unchanged 1815-1937, is common. Other dates include 1989-2012.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, reeded edge, this specimen 3.45 g.
