This specimen was lot 2267 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €500 (about US$650 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA, NAWANAGAR, Vibhaji (1852-1894), AV kori, AH 978. Very Fine - Extremely Fine." The rulers of Nawanager were a branch of the Jams of Kutch across the Rann of Kutch. This type was struck with a frozen date of AH 978 (1570 AD). Since that is obviously not when it was made, we attribute it to Vibhaji's accession year, 1852. Eight dokda made a kori. This and the accompanying half kori are the only gold coins of this state.
Reported Mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.4-6.6 g, gold, this specimen 6,40 g.
