Naples and Sicily 1853 30 ducati Fr-866
This specimen was lot 653 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 5,250 CHF (about US$8,001 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Neapel / Sizilien. Ferdinando II. 1830-1859. 30 Ducati 1856, Napoli. Selten. Sehr schön. Fassungsspuren. (Italy, kingdom of Naples and Sicily, Ferdinand II, 1830-59, thirty ducati of 1856, Naples mint. Rare, Very Fine, Traces of mounting.)"
This type was issued 1844-54 for Ferdinand II. These large gold coins were issued intermittently until 1856 and all are rare. The Kingdom of the Two Sicilies was annexed to Italy in 1860 but remains poor, backward and corrupt.
