This specimen was lot 937 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "NAPLES: Ferdinando II, 1830-1859, AE 5 tornesi, 1845, small reverse scratch, extremely rare key date, F-VF." This type was struck 1841-45 and is scarce in choice condition. This was a little used denomination. King Ferdinando (nicknamed "king Bomba" after he ordered the navy to bombard Messina during a revolt) was not universally beloved.
