Mysore AM1226/3 1/4 paisa KM-121.7
This specimen was lot 2586 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Tipu Sultan, 1782-1799, AE 1/4 paisa (akhtar), Patan, AM1226, elephant right, year 3 indicated by the Persian letter "te" above elephant, VF, ex Dr. Vincent John Adams Flynn Collection." The Indian state of Mysore, under her rulers Haider Ali (1761-82) and Tipu Sultan (1782-99), was a serious thorn in the side of the British Raj. The Mauludi Era (AM) was a calendar invented and used only by Tipu Sultan and it lapsed after his death in battle in 1799. This quarter paisa was struck year 3 only.
