This specimen was lot 42370 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Mysore. Pagoda, AM "8121" Year 8 (1792). Patan (Seringapatan) Mint. Tipu Sultan. NGC MS-67. An appealing nearly flawless Superb-Gem, with crisp well formed calligraphy, lovely lustrous eye appeal, and sharp details throughout." The Indian state of Mysore, under her rulers Haider Ali (1761-82) and Tipu Sultan (1782-99), was a serious thorn in the side of the British Raj. This type was struck years 5 thru 13 at Khurshed-Sawad, Nagar and Patan along with a double pagoda (Fr-1355) and quadruple pagoda (Fr-1354). This specimen matches the photo in Friedberg but the SCWC shows a completely different obverse.
