Mysore (1761-82) pagoda Fr-1346
This specimen was lot 484 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $574.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA, Independent States. Mysore. Haidar Ali. AH 1174-1197/AD 1761-1782. AV Pagoda. Uncertain mint. Struck 1761-1782. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 66. Gem uncirculated with the stippled types of the reverse concealing a bright yellow luster. Purchased from RARCOA, February 1978." The Indian state of Mysore, under her rulers Haider Ali (1761-82) and Tipu Sultan (1782-99), was a serious thorn in the side of the British Raj.
