This specimen was lot 912 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Haidar Ali, 1761-1782, AV mohur, Bahadurpatan, AH119x year 15, in the name of Shah Alam II, one tiny testmark on the edge, EF, RR. There are 2 examples of year 15 recorded on CoinArchives, both from the same pair of dies." This type was struck years 14-20. Haidar Ali and his son Tipu, both Sultans of Mysore, were the chief obstacles to British hegemony in south India in the late eighteenth century.
