Steve Album sale 55, lot 2319

This specimen was lot 2319 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Akbar I, 1556-1605, AR dirham, Delhi, IE46, month of Isfandarmuz, bold strike, choice VF." This rupee was struck at Delhi IE 44-50 and is somewhat scarce. In total, 21 mints, including Lahore and Ahmadabad, struck this type, starting in IE 37. The Ilahi Era (IE) was a solar calendar used during Akbar's reign for the dating of coinage and was abandoned a few years after his death.
