Steve Album sale 55, lot 653

This specimen was lot 653 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Akbar I, 1556-1605, AR square 1/2 rupee (Ahmadabad), AH989, wonderful strike; this style and date was struck only at Ahmadabad, XF, R." This mint struck this type AH 988-992, 997-1001 along with three other mints. It is fairly common, particularly for a generally scarce denomination.
