Stephen Album sale 47, lot 885

This specimen was lot 885 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Kamran Mirza, 1530-1555, AR light shahrukhi, Kabul, AH952, the light shahrukhi was struck only at Qandahar and Kabul, AH951-952; traces of mount removal, VF, RR." The shahrukhi was originally a silver coin minted by Shah Rukh of the Timurid Empire (r. 1405-47) and was adopted by the early Mughal Emperors (Babur, Humayan and Akbar). It was eventually superseded by the rupee.
