Surat in 1942

This specimen was lot 2406 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Muhammad Shah, 1719-1748, AR 1/2 rupee, Surat, year 8, an attractive nearly mint state example, PCGS graded AU58." The auctioneers attributed this example to KM 470, which is a half rupee of Shah Jahan III. The present type, KM 433.4, was struck years 1-20, 24-27, none with complete calendar dates.
