Mughal Empire AH1119/51 mohur Fr-810
This specimen was lot 1327 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 3,500 CHF (about US$4,625 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"INDIEN Mughal Empire, Muhyi al-Din Muhammad Aurangzeb Alamgir, 1068-1118 AH (1658-1707). Mohur 1119 AH / Year 51, Dar-al aman Multan. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. NGC MS65. Prachtexemplar, Very rare date, Cabinet piece."
Fifty mints struck mohurs for Aurangzeb and Multan is listed in this style for years 4-26, 32 and 44. His successors were not able to cope with external attack, Hindu rebellion and civil war and the empire broke up in the eighteenth century.
