This specimen was lot 74867 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "MOZAMBIQUE. 50 Centimos, 1975. PCGS SPECIMEN-66. Tone free with reflective surfaces. From the Kings Norton Mint Collection." This one year type is scarce, despite the substantial mintage. It must have been melted before issue. Wikipedia comments, "Samora Moisés Machel (29 September 1933 – 19 October 1986)...served as the first President of Mozambique from the country's independence in 1975. Machel died in office in 1986 when his presidential aircraft crashed."
