This specimen was issued by Morocco as part of the F.A.O. series along with a five santimat (KM Y59). Morocco, unlike the rest of the Maghreb, was never under Ottoman control or even influence, being ruled by native dynasts. It was briefly (1912-56) partitioned between France and Spain but was restored to its native dynasty after World War Two, which family still rules today. This type was reissued in 1975 and 1978.

Recorded mintage: 67,950,000 plus 30 in gold (Y59a).

Specification: 3 g, brass, 20 mm diameter.
