This specimen was lot 2126 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 210 CHF (about US$251 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Montfort, Grafschaft, Franz Xavier, 1758-1780 Taler 1759. Langenargen. Fast sehr schön. (Germany, county of Montfort, Francis Xavier, 1758-80, thaler of 1759, Langenargen mint. About very fine.)"
This is among the last issues of this county. Montfort is an extremely obscure locality on the shore of Lake Constance in Wurttemberg. We have filed it under Austria as the counts sold out to the Austrian emperor in 1780.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, this specimen 27.63 g.
