This specimen was lot 2666 in Sincona sale 13 (Zürich, October 2013), where it sold for 5,700 CHF (about US$7,372 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"MONACO, Louis I. 1662-1701. Ecu 1673. Sehr selten. Sehr schön (Monaco, Louis I, 1662-1701, écu of 1673. Very rare, very fine)."
The prince of Monaco issued an extensive series of coinage, from copper double tournois to one écu, mostly imitations of the neighboring French coinage. Today, it is all scarce to rare. This type is noted for 1662-82.
