This specimen was lot 5042 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,926 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN, MODENA Rinaldo I., 1706-1737. 1/2 Ducato (80 Soldi) 1731. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 63 (6773047-001). Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Feine Patina, leicht justiert, kl. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Italy, duchy of Modena, Rinaldo I, 1706-37, half ducato or eighty soldi of 1731. Graded NGC MS-63. Rare in this condition, fine patina, light adjustment marks, minor planchet defects, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
A very obscure type that is not listed int he SCWC or Numista. We show a 1728 here. The Este family managed to remain Dukes of Modena from the sixteenth century until the coming of Napoleon in 1796. At the time, 6 denari = one sesino, 2 sesini = one soldo, 20 soldi = one lira, 12 lire = one tallero or scudo.
