This specimen was lot 41137 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Modena. 80 Soldi (1/2 Ducato), 1728. Rinaldo d'Este (1706-37). PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Exceptional quality for the issue with a strike that is far superior to those typically seen and surfaces that are impressively preserved, showcasing sparkling luster and minimal handling beneath a veil of pale cabinet tone. Easily among the finest seen. From the Collection of Dr. James Eustace Bizzell, II. Ex: Hess-Divo 319, October 2010, lot 1782 at 1,900 CHF." The Este family managed to remain Dukes of Modena from the sixteenth century until the coming of Napoleon in 1796.
