This specimen was lot 1170 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Milan. 1/2 Filippo, 1736. NGC VF-35. RARE. Attractive dark toning with nice detail." The half filippo was struck occasionally in the first half of the eighteenth century and most issues are rare. This one of 1728-36 is only very scarce. Milanese coins of the period are notably cruder than those of her Italian neighbors. Quality improved after the accession of Maria Theresia in 1740.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 13.74-13.82 g, silver, 34 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-152; Crippa-14c.
