This specimen was lot 9 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 440 euro (about US$698 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1657. Milán. 1 ducatón. Buen ejemplar. MBC+. (Duchy of Milan, ducatone of 1657. Nice example, choice very fine.)"
The type shown here was struck at Milan 1652 and 1657 for Philip IV of Spain. The series is plagued by bad planchets and poor strikes, reducing their appeal to collectors.
Reported Mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
