Steve Album sale 51, lot 3175

This specimen was lot 3175 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MILAN: Francisco I D'Angoulême, 1515-1522, AE trillina, ND, crowned F with + FR D G FRANCOR REX around // lily cross with MEDIOLANI DVX ET C around, F-VF, ex Pegasi (with tag)." Numista states one scudo was worth 480 trillini. Francisco I D'Angoulême was king François of France (r. 1515-47), who spent much time, treasure and blood attempting to conquer Italy and Milan in particular. It was Charles V and the Spanish who ended up with the prize.
