In 1993, the Mexico City mint attempted to supplement its sales of one ounce silver Libertads by introducing one ounce five peso coins featuring art treasures from Mexico's native cultures. This one depicts an Hombre jaguar from an Olmec temple. Several others (KM 595, 597, 598, 619, 620, 621, 663, 664, 665, 666) were issued 1996-98.
Recorded mintage: 6,000 + 4,200 proofs.
Specification: 31.1 g, 0.999 fine silver, 1.00 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, 40 mm diameter.
