Mexico 1951 50 centavos rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is an example of a type struck 1950-51 at Mexico City. This type was an attempt to return silver to the fifty centavos denomination, last struck in 1945. It, like the accompanying twenty-five centavos, was a flop. The portrait is not labeled but is likely intended to be Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor.

Recorded mintage: 3,650,000.

Specification: 6.66 g, 0.300 fine silver, 26 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 449.
