Mexico 1950 50 centavos rev DSLR.jpg

In 1945, the mint suspended the production of the familiar .720 fine silver fifty centavos it had produced since 1919. When the fifty centavos resumed in 1950, it was smaller, lighter and lower fineness. Despite the handsome if conjectural bust of Aztec emperor Cuauhtémoc, the coin was rejected and production terminated after 1951.

Recorded mintage: 13,370,000.

Specification: 6.66 g, .300 fine silver, 26 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 449.
