Mexico 1937 5 centavos rev DSLR.jpg

This five centavos is from a type struck 1936-42. It was accompanied by a very similar ten centavos (KM 432). It replaced a bronze five centavos issued 1914-35 and was in turn superseded by another bronze five centavos featuring Josefa Ortiz issued 1942-55. The 1938 is scarce in uncirculated, the rest are common. The obverse design is adapted from the famous Aztec sun calendar in Mexico City.

Recorded mintage: 49,060,000.

Specification: 4 g, copper-nickel, plain edge, 20.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-423.
