Mexico 1937-M 5 centavos

This five centavos is from a type struck 1936-42. It was accompanied by a very similar ten centavos (KM 432). It replaced a bronze five centavos issued 1914-35 and was in turn superseded by another bronze five centavos featuring Josefa Ortiz issued 1942-55. The 1938 is scarce in uncirculated, the rest are common. The obverse design is adapted from the famous Aztec sun calendar in Mexico City.
