This specimen was lot 24710 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $3,818.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 50 Pesos 1930, MS65 NGC. A delightful Gem with scintillating luster that radiates around the central motifs and much fewer abrasions than are typically seen on a soft gold coin of this size. Only a single example has been deemed finer by NGC." This coin was minted in Mexico City in 1927. The type was struck 1921-47 along with a silver two pesos. No date is rare but the 1921 obtains a slight premium. It is commonly nicknamed the "Centenario."
