This specimen was lot 21602 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $2,300. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 50 Pesos 1929, MS65 NGC, a choice example with full blazing mint brilliance, scarce date in this designation." This coin was minted in Mexico City in 1929. The type was struck 1921-47 along with a silver two pesos. No date is rare but the 1921 obtains a slight premium. It is commonly nicknamed the "Centenario."
