Mexico 1925-M peso
This specimen was lot 74833 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Peso, 1925-M. Mexico City Mint. PCGS MS-66. Outstanding and scarce premium Gem quality for this otherwise readily obtainable issue. Highly lustrous with silky smooth surfaces, both sides are fully brilliant and free of distractions. From the Hobart Collection." This specimen is from a type struck in massive numbers 1920-45 at the Mexico City mint (the last branch mint having closed in 1905). This date is common and worth only its bullion content in circulated condition.
Recorded mintage: 9,160,000, a fairly common date.
