This specimen is the second date of the "Caballito" peso struck at Mexico City 1910-14. It is the last full weight peso from Mexico, ending a tradition going back to colonial times. The 1911 is the third commonest date of the five dates, after 1910 and 1913. A rare "short ray" variety exists, where one of the rays of the obverse was left short to provide space for the engraver's name which was omitted on the production dies.
