Mexico 1743-Mo MF escudo

Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 4086

This specimen was lot 4086 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $470. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Escudo, 1743-MF. NGC VF-30. An attractive example." All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. This type was struck 1732-47 with the bust of Philip V but despite the lengthy production, it is not common.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.917 fine gold, .100 troy oz AGW.
