This specimen was lot 551 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO, Mexico City, cob ½ real, 1616/5 F, extremely rare, ex-Hubbard. Nearly full 616/5 of date in legend (with edge-split on the last digit), good full monogram with oM to left and "E" punched over small F to right, good full cross, lightly toned VF with sediment in crevices, hole in crown. Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection, with his tag." This specimen is a silver cob half real struck at Mexico City. Specimens with clear dates are unusual to the point that many dates are unlisted in the SCWC. Cayón lists this rare type for 1614 and 1618 altho this coin is evidence that other dates exist.
