This specimen was lot 75385 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS. 10 Cents, 1883. London Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-62. A beautiful Mint State specimen, this pleasing example delivers a rich luster, with strong details throughout." This ten cent piece was struck for Mauritius in 1877-78, 1882-83, 1886, 1889, 1897 and is the first coin of that denomination issued for that island along with an accompanying five, twenty, two and one cent pieces. It is fairly common in circulated condition but the price ascends rapidly with grade. The island remained under British rule until 1968.
